About Grace
I am a graduate of the University of Oxford, where I gained a masters in modern and contemporary English literature. Prior to this I gained a First class degree in English from the University of St Andrews. I have extensive experience in essay-writing and exams for English and other humanities subjects, as well as editing and proofreading.

I am able to tutor 1:1 and small groups of students preparing for their National Five, Higher, Advanced Higher, GCSE and A-Level qualifications in English.
My teaching method is to work closely with students to locate what they identify as their own "problem" areas, whether exams, coursework, or general literacy.
Depending on what the student identifies as their areas of struggle, lessons might take the form of a discussion about set texts (for example working with the student to analyse a sample paragraph or piece of poetry), providing feedback on students' practice exam questions, or help with formulating and planning essays and creative writing coursework.
Lessons will be relaxed and informal-- my goal is to put students at ease, boosting their confidence and helping them develop a set of skills they can then use on their own.
Owing to the current Covid-19 pandemic, I am only offering lessons remotely for the present time.
