Nick Hooper has just graduated with a first class degree in Classics from the University of Oxford. He is a very bright and hardworking individual, and an excellent classicist. Indeed, he has mastery of all the main branches of the subject, especially languages (he is strong in both Latin and Classical Greek) and ancient history. Although a high achiever, Nick has both the ability and a sincere desire to help those who are not as able as he is, and he will be good at tutoring at all levels of the subject(s). He is patient and his explanations of ideas are clear and logical. He will make an excellent tutor and I commend him to you wholeheartedly.

I taught Nick from the first week of his degree and saw him until his graduation. He is an extraordinarily gifted young man who is adept with ancient languages, fluent when it comes to explaining difficult and complex subjects, and above all else generous and understanding.
