About Maya
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a 2:1 in Experimental Psychology and achieved an A* in A Level Psychology. I have over eight years’ experience tutoring A Level Psychology and am currently completing an MSc in Developmental and Clinical Psychology at UCL.
I have also examined for AQA, so I understand exactly what examiners are looking for in high-scoring answers. I am very familiar with the specification and assessment criteria, and have supported students in achieving significant grade improvements, including U's to B's and B's to A*'s.
My teaching focuses not only on developing strong subject knowledge, but on building the exam technique needed to write clear, well-structured, evaluative answers under timed conditions.

I start my lessons by outlining the lesson objectives and answering any immediate questions. We will then either go through the topic content, or do practice questions to consolidate knowledge.
I also cover revision and exam technique, such as note making, types of learning (e.g., visual, how to memorise) and essay practice.
Overall I am friendly, approachable and am good at explaining complex and abstract ideas in a simple and easy to understand way. My main approach to tutoring is making the student feel comfortable and confident in their knowledge and ability.
