About James
I’ve been passionate about education throughout my academic journey. After completing a teaching course during college, I began tutoring and have since worked with a wide range of students. Alongside tutoring, I’ve been involved in several educational initiatives, including presenting for the Anne Frank Trust and creating educational content for Ocean Generation, both of which deepened my commitment to making learning meaningful and engaging. My academic background is in History and Politics, subjects I first fell in love with at A-level. I’ve continued to explore them in depth at Oxford University, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in critical thinking, analysis, and academic communication—skills I now bring into every lesson I teach.

My lessons will be focused on fostering critical thought, confidence and exam skills. My sessions are modelled on Oxford-style tutorials. They include a clear overview of the topic, followed by curious, thought-provoking questioning to deepen understanding. We finish with exam-style practice, helping students apply their knowledge and develop strong, strategic answers under pressure. I am also active in personalising my approach to the students' specific needs.
