I am a student in Taunya’s Intentional Creativity class. I would like to commend Ms. Taunya Taylor, the Intentional Creativity instructor located at the Beazley Senior Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Ms. Taylor is a caring, empathetic instructor that very clearly communicates ideas and directions to all students in her class. Often the material covered is sensitive however, Ms. Taylor’s classroom environment is one where students always feel safe, respected, and supported.
She presents lessons that are creative and engaging. It is evident that Ms. Taylor is passionate about what she teaches as she provides each student with a four-page typewritten lesson plan that includes class materials and additional resources to follow up on the concepts taught.
Her lessons employ a variety of teaching methods including but not limited to dance, meditation, art, and discussion.
I have taken numerous classes at the Beazley Center and although all classes are great, I find her class to be one of the best programs/classes that the Beazley Senior Center offers. It is noteworthy that at the end of the latest lesson the students all gave her a round of applause.

I’ve known Taunya for 3 years and I’ve received support in my art endeavors many times. She is encouraging and a talented artist herself. Her instruction for me has primarily been abstract acrylic painting. She is a great instructor for a beginner or for anyone wanting to increase their skills in a variety of media.
