About Jess
I am a lifelong musician and former Michigan All-State cellist with experience performing in college orchestra, solo competitions, and chamber settings. I began playing cello in elementary school and continued through high school and college, including selection as a concerto soloist and participation in Solo and Ensemble every year with top ratings. I have a strong background in teaching beginners, including experience working with fifth grade strings students. I approach lessons with patience, structure, and clear instruction so students feel supported from the very first session. My goal is to help learners build confidence, develop solid foundational skills, and enjoy the process of becoming a musician. Students can expect a professional, organized learning environment where progress is guided thoughtfully and lessons are tailored to the individual’s level and goals.

Hi, I’m Jess. I teach beginner and early-intermediate cello students using the Suzuki method, focusing on strong fundamentals, relaxed posture, and clear, manageable steps.
A typical lesson includes reviewing previous pieces, focused technique work, and learning new Suzuki material, along with a simple practice plan.
What sets me apart is my background as a Michigan All-State cellist, concerto soloist selectee, college orchestra musician, and my experience teaching fifth grade strings students. I genuinely love working with kids and creating a positive learning environment.
My lessons are ideal for beginners of any age, especially students working through Suzuki Books 1 to 3 who want steady and supportive guidance.
