About Ben
I've been interested in math and education my whole life. After graduating college with a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, I went back to school to become a high school math teacher. I received a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and taught full time for two years.
After moving away from the classroom I still wanted to stay close to math education and began working in corporate tutoring settings, and with private math tutoring clients. In the years I've spent in the class room and with students one-on-one, I've learned valuable lessons about the challenges and stigma students face in math.
I continue to feel passionate about helping students face both the complex nature of mathematics, and the guilt and shame that so commonly accompanies difficulties in math. I am here to help support students in their understanding of math, and always enjoy the growth and excitement found in their success.

I am passionate about math education and believe an understanding of fundamental mathematics benefits a child in both their personal education, and in their ability to make sense of the world around them. I use my experience from being a classroom teacher and long time tutor to patiently and accurately explain challenging concepts.
