About Nola
I am a passionate piano instructor with 9 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Collaborative Piano. I work with students from Beginner to Expert levels, guiding each one with patience and clear direction. My teaching philosophy centers on interactive learning, where lessons are engaging, thoughtful, and student-focused. I believe music should always have purpose and intention, not just correct notes.
In my lessons, we explore technique, tone production, rhythm, and healthy hand movement to build strong foundations. I also include music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and historical context so students understand the music they play. This balanced approach helps students grow into well-rounded musicians. I encourage questions, discussion, and active participation during every lesson.
Each student receives a personalized plan based on their goals, strengths, and learning style. I support creative exploration through improvisation, interpretation, and expressive playing. My aim is to build confidence, independence, and artistic voice alongside technical skill. My teaching approach for piano is structured, supportive, and creative. I build strong foundations in posture, hand position, technique, rhythm, and music reading. I also teach ear training, sight-reading, improvisation, and music theory to develop full musical understanding. Students learn how to shape tone, control dynamics, and express emotion through sound.
I create individual lesson plans based on each student’s level, goals, and learning style. Some students want to compose their own music, and I guide them in harmony, chord progressions, melody writing, and musical storytelling. Others come to piano for personal growth and emotional balance, and I provide a calm, encouraging space where they can feel confident and relaxed. Music should feel meaningful.
I teach classical, jazz, pop, soul, and contemporary styles, so students can explore different genres with flexibility. We set clear goals and track steady progress. I give practical exercises and creative challenges. I encourage performance practice to build stage confidence. Mistakes are part of learning. My goal is steady growth, strong technique, and joyful musical expression.
