About Emilka
Hi! My name's Emilia Palka but most people call me Emilka. I am passionate about working with people and excited to help you out.
I am currently studying International Relations, Peace and Conflict Analysis and French at the University of Queensland - commencing Law/Arts as of 2020. I graduated Year 12 in 2018 and during my last year at school I played as a first violinist for the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra at my school. I was also selected as a first violinist for a partnership project with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Brisbane Girls Grammar. My passion for music is further extended outside school where I was the concertmaster for Queensland Youth Orchestra 3 in 2018, and was recently offered a position in Queensland Youth Orchestra 2. I recently completed my Grade 8 violin exam and am studying Grade 8 for piano. Additionally, earlier in 2018 I composed a piece of music for the Queensland Music Festival competition and have lead a quartet for three years in the past. I love playing both these instruments and would be happy to tutor students studying up to and including Grade 5 for both these instruments.
I completed Grade 12 at Brisbane Girls Grammar school and studied Maths B, English, Music, Chemistry, Biology and Geography and achieved highly across all these subjects. I speak fluent polish and have also studied both French and Japanese.
I love to work with people of all ages (especially children) and will be excited to tutor both piano and violin. Apart from these two instruments, I would be happy to tutor students in Grade 8 or lower at school in mathematics. Please contact me if you are interested.

I love teaching in a way that works best with the student. I think a positive learning environment, setting short term and long term goals with the student and regularly completing tasks works best. I would like to think that my students can be open with me so we can work on what needs the most attention.
