About Koa
I’m a dedicated guitar tutor with 12 years of teaching and performing experience. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, which gave me a deep understanding of technique, theory, and musical expression. Over the years, I’ve worked with students ranging from complete beginners to advanced musicians, helping each one find their unique voice through the guitar. Music, to me, is more than a skill—it’s a lifelong creative journey. I believe learning guitar should be inspiring, challenging, and enjoyable. My lessons are built to nurture not only technical ability but also confidence, creativity, and musical curiosity. I regularly compose and perform, staying connected to the pulse of live music and artistic growth. This real-world experience helps me bring fresh energy and practical insights into each lesson. I emphasize strong foundations in rhythm, ear training, and improvisation, while adapting to every student’s goals and pace. My guitar teaching approach blends creativity with structure to help students grow confidently. I focus on building strong foundations in technique, rhythm, and fretboard knowledge. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, lessons are tailored to your goals and style.
I incorporate music theory, ear training, and improvisation to make learning musical and practical. Students explore various genres like jazz, rock, blues, classical, and more. I give special attention to performance coaching—developing stage presence, timing, and expression.
We use metronome apps, amp simulators, and DAWs to practice smart and track progress. I encourage recording performances to boost confidence and identify areas of improvement. My lessons are interactive, structured, and engaging.
I help students express their unique musical identity and support them in mastering bold, expressive playing styles. Whether you're chasing clean jazz tones or raw energy, I'm here to guide you.
