About Travis
With over 14 years of experience teaching piano to college students, I am passionate about helping students unlock their musical potential. My teaching style is student-centered, focusing on building a strong foundation in both technique and musical expression. I use innovative methods, incorporating a mix of classical and modern music to keep lessons engaging and relevant. I believe in adapting to each student's learning pace and goals, providing personalized guidance and support. My teaching approach focuses on cultural sensitivity, problem-solving, and open-mindedness to ensure a well-rounded and supportive learning experience. I respect and embrace these differences, making sure to incorporate a variety of styles and genres in piano lessons, from classical to jazz and modern music.
I encourage a problem-solving mindset, helping students tackle challenges and explore creative solutions in their practice. Whether it’s mastering a tricky piece or improving technique, I guide students step by step to overcome obstacles and build confidence in their abilities.
Open-mindedness is key to my approach, as I remain adaptable to each student’s learning style and pace. I tailor lessons to suit individual needs, whether they are beginners or more advanced pianists, ensuring they progress at a comfortable and effective rate.
Beyond piano, I can also teach music theory, sight-reading, and other relevant subjects, creating a comprehensive learning experience that nurtures both musical skills and critical thinking. My goal is to make music enjoyable while developing a deep understanding and love for the piano.
