About Vanessa
Hi! My name is Vanessa, I'm a full-time college student at Arizona State University (ASU), majoring in Sports Business and a certified tutor specializing in math and English. I have 5+ years of experience working with students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. In my free time, I enjoy racing my dirt bike, attending dance competitions, and reading. My tutoring style focuses on building confidence, encouraging critical thinking, simplifying complex ideas, and I customize every session to match the student's learning pace and goals all while having fun at the same time. Visual Aids and Interactive Tools: For visual learners, I often use diagrams, flowcharts, and digital tools like virtual whiteboards or simulations. A Typical Lesson Plan: Warm-Up: Brief review of the previous lesson or a quick concept activity. Learning Objectives: I clearly outline and talk about the goals for the session. Instruction: I explain the topic using examples, analogies, and demonstrations, encouraging questions throughout. Practice & Application: The student completes problems or discusses scenarios with my support, allowing me to assess understanding and correct their misconceptions. Review & Recap: Together, we'll summarize key takeaways and clarify any lingering confusion. Preview of Next Steps: I give a brief look ahead and suggest some follow-up work, such as practice problems or reading. I don’t just explain content—I coach students in how to learn, ask questions, and manage their academic challenges.
