About Aya
My name is Aya, and I bring a unique blend of academic rigor and compassionate teaching to every lesson. Currently a medical student-to-be, my journey has been defined by discipline and a commitment to helping others. My professional legitimacy is rooted in my experience as a volunteer tutor for Paper Airplanes, an international organization where I was vetted and trained to deliver high-quality English instruction. This role required me to follow a structured US-based curriculum and maintain a high standard of professional ethics and reliability—qualities I bring to our classroom every day.
My Teaching Approach
I believe that confidence is the foundation of language learning. My method is patience-first and highly interactive. I don't just teach grammar; I teach you how to think in English. I use a "Student-Centered" approach where we focus on real-world application, ensuring you spend the majority of the lesson actively speaking. Whether we are discussing daily routines or complex topics, I provide the "scaffolding" you need—tools and vocabulary—to help you express yourself without fear.
What to Expect in Our Lessons
Structured Progression: Every lesson has a clear goal. We begin with a focus on new, "normal" vocabulary and move into guided conversation practice.
Peer-to-Peer Mentoring: As someone who has mastered the language myself, I understand the psychological barriers of learning. I act as both a tutor and a mentor.
Scientific Precision: My medical background ensures I am organized. After every session, you will receive a summary of our work and specific feedback to help you track your growth.
Who I Teach
I specialize in helping beginners and intermediate learners who want to master "normal," everyday conversational English. My lessons are ideal for students who value a calm, intelligent, and highly professional environment. I am especially experienced in working with those who need a patient hand to help them bridge the gap between basic understanding and fluent communication.

Hi, I'm Aya! I am a dedicated future medical student and a vetted Paper Airplanes volunteer tutor. My lessons are designed for anyone who wants to stop feeling nervous and start speaking basic, normal, conversational English for everyday life. Whether you are a student, a traveler, or just want to improve your confidence, I am here to help you reach your goals in a supportive and friendly environment.
My Teaching Method
I believe that the best way to learn a language is by doing. My approach is "Student-Centered," which means you do 70% of the talking. I use the communicative method—focusing on real-life scenarios rather than boring grammar drills.
Scaffolding: I provide "sentence starters" to help you build your thoughts.
Peer-to-Peer Mentoring: As a student myself, I understand the struggle of learning. I use the same patience and discipline I apply to my medical studies to help you grow.
Trauma-Informed & Patient: Through my training at Paper Airplanes, I have learned to be exceptionally patient and to create a safe space where making mistakes is welcomed as part of learning.
Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)
The Warm-Up (10 min): A fun "Daily Check-in" or a quick game to get your brain thinking in English.
Vocabulary Focus (15 min): We introduce 5–10 "power words" for a specific topic (e.g., shopping, meeting friends, or health).
Guided Conversation (20 min): We practice a real-life dialogue using the new words.
Correction & Feedback (10 min): I share a digital "notes page" with you containing all the small corrections we made during our talk.
The Wrap-Up (5 min): A quick review and a "Mission" (small homework) for our next meeting.
What Sets Me Apart
What makes me different is my vetted experience. As a volunteer for Paper Airplanes, I have been trained to use professional US-based curricula and have successfully guided students through intensive language terms. My medical background means I am organized, detail-oriented, and highly professional. When you book a lesson with me, you aren't just getting a chat partner; you are getting a mentor who is committed to your progress.
Who This Is For
Levels: Absolute Beginners (A1) to Intermediate (B1).
Goals: Travel, everyday life, school confidence, or basic medical terminology.
Age: I enjoy working with both teenagers and adults.
