About Francesco

Hello! I'm Francesco, a Civil Engineer and freelance consultant with a deep-seated passion for education. My engineering background taught me to break down complex problems into manageable steps—a skill I now use to help students build strong, logical foundations for learning. My journey into tutoring has been driven by a desire to make a real difference, especially for those who may find traditional learning environments challenging. I have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and also work with specialist learning support organisations.
I believe that everyone has a unique way of learning. My role is to discover that path with you or your child, creating a supportive and engaging space where confidence can flourish. Whether you're a child, teenager, or adult, I am here to help you achieve your goals. Fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English, I can deliver lessons in whichever language you are most comfortable with.

My Approach to Learning
My teaching philosophy is built on patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in my students' worlds. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. All my tutoring is conducted one-to-one, ensuring a learning experience that is entirely focused on the individual student's needs and pace. I take the time to understand each student's unique strengths, challenges, and learning style.
This was particularly true for a student I've had the pleasure of teaching Italian to for over a year. This wonderful 18-year-old, whose learning profile includes demand avoidance (PDA), had previously found it difficult to build a lasting connection with tutors. By fostering a respectful, low-pressure environment that valued his autonomy, we built a strong rapport. He not only remained engaged for 90-minute sessions—a significant achievement—but also discovered a natural talent for the language. He excelled in auditory learning, mastering difficult pronunciations far ahead of schedule and showing a remarkable ability to understand grammatical rules.
This experience solidified my belief that when students feel understood and respected, their potential is limitless. We'll work together to identify what clicks for you, whether it's through auditory learning, pattern recognition, or connecting subjects to your passions like music and food.
Subjects I Teach
Italian
As a native speaker, I bring an authentic love for the Italian language and culture to my lessons. My focus is on making the language feel intuitive and alive.
For Beginners: We'll build a strong foundation, focusing on pronunciation and core grammar in a way that feels natural and engaging. Like my student who mastered the rolled "R" and "gli" sounds early on, you'll be surprised at how quickly you can develop an ear for the language.
Building Confidence: We'll tap into your natural strengths. If you're an auditory learner, we'll focus on listening and speaking. If you're a visual learner, we'll use different resources to support your progress.
Cultural Immersion: We'll explore Italian culture through music, cuisine, and anything else that sparks your curiosity, making learning both fun and memorable.
Maths
My background as a Civil Engineer provides a unique, practical perspective on Maths. I teach it not just as abstract rules, but as a creative tool for solving real-world puzzles—just like we do in engineering.
Making it Real: I connect mathematical concepts to real-world examples, helping you see the "why" behind the formulas.
Building from the Basics: We'll work patiently to ensure you have a solid grasp of the fundamentals before moving on to more complex topics.
Problem-Solving Skills: My goal is to empower you to become a confident and independent problem-solver.
Guitar
Having played and performed guitar at a semi-professional level since I was 13, I have a lifelong passion for the instrument. Music is a powerful way to express creativity and build discipline, and I offer lessons tailored to your musical tastes and goals.
From Beginner to Advanced: Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to deepen your understanding of music theory, I can help.
Engaging and Fun: As one parent noted, my lessons are designed to be fun and keep students "engaged, focused and enthusiastic."
Jazz and Theory: For more advanced students, I offer in-depth knowledge of jazz theory, chord progressions, and extensions to elevate your playing.
