About Sophia
My name is Sophia, and I am an 18-year-old tutor specializing in elementary math (arithmetic). I focus on helping students build strong foundational skills and confidence in math through clear, patient, and step-by-step explanations.
I understand that many students can feel overwhelmed or frustrated with math, so I create a supportive and calm learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
My goal is not just to help students get the correct answers, but to make sure they understand the process behind each problem. This helps build long-term confidence and stronger math skills.
I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs and focus on making math easier to understand, especially for students who may struggle or lack confidence.
I am also a native Spanish speaker and can offer basic Spanish support if needed

I specialize in elementary math (arithmetic). My teaching style is patient, clear, and step-by-step, focused on helping students build strong foundational skills and confidence in math.
I use simple explanations, guided practice, and real-life examples such as word problems to make math easier to understand. I encourage students to take their time, ask questions, and learn at a comfortable pace.
My focus is not just on getting the correct answer, but making sure students understand how and why the solution works. This helps build long-term confidence and reduces stress around math.
A typical lesson includes a quick review, explanation of the new topic, guided practice together, independent practice with support, and a short recap to confirm understanding.
What sets me apart is my patience and ability to explain concepts in different ways until the student understands. I adapt to each student’s learning style and focus on building confidence as well as skills.
My lessons are for elementary school students who need help with arithmetic, word problems, basic math skills, or homework support.
I am also a native Spanish speaker and can offer basic Spanish support if needed.
