About Iqraa
I am a newly qualified English teacher (PGCE with QTS) who also holds a BSc in Sociology and an MA in Gender Studies. I always loved education as a child and thoroughly enjoyed learning and going to school. This keen interest reflected in me undertaking significant optional further education and opting for a career path in education. It is truly a privilege to be able to support and shape young minds and there is nothing else I would rather do! I had the immense privilege of attending an academically rigorous school where my teachers were experts in their fields and imparted upon me a passion for learning. This is the same gift that I hope to impart onto my students. Learning is a privilege, and I treat it with great care. I tutored students for their 11+ exams for almost two years, after which I decided to pursue my PGCE with QTS. I will use my enthusiasm as a student, as well as my experience as both a tutor and teacher, to hopefully give you the skills and knowledge you need to achieve your academic goals and continue to find success long after our lessons are complete.

As a newly qualified English teacher (PGCE with QTS) with a BSc in Sociology and MA in Gender Studies and experience in tutoring as well as teaching, I have the knowledge and experience to support students from KS2 to KS5 to achieve their academic goals in English or Sociology or their 11+ entrance exams. My lessons are tailored for the needs and goals of my students and use the most up-to-date pedagogical approach to maximise their success. As an active teacher, any changes in the National Curriculum or developments in educational research will reflect in my lessons with you. For KS1 to KS3 students, there will be a general focus on building foundational skills whilst for KS4 and KS5 students we will focus on exam technique and exam practice. I currently teach the AQA specification and can support with other exam boards, such as EDEXCEL, as well. In English, some texts that I have taught include: KS3: Romeo and Juliet, The Crucible, Frankenstein KS4: A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Macbeth In Sociology, some modules that I have tutored in include: Education, Crime and Deviance, Research Methods, Families and Households For 11+, I have experience in teaching Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning. This is a general guide, and the priority will always be the areas in which you are struggling in and would like to strengthen. In the first lesson, I will work to understand your current capabilities, areas of strength and gaps in your knowledge. From here I am able to tailor the lessons to support you in incrementally reaching your academic goals. My teaching style is built upon kindness, respect and a love for learning. I do not believe in shaming or criticising my students. We will work together in collaboration to achieve your goals, not only to help you excel in your exams, but to succeed in any future ventures you choose to undertake.
