About Serene
Teaching English has been at the heart of my career for over 15 years, and tutoring allows me to continue that work in the most meaningful way — one student at a time. I find it deeply rewarding to see a child move from uncertainty to confidence, and from reluctance to genuine engagement with reading and writing. That progress, however small or large, is what drives every lesson I plan.
My lessons are structured around each individual student. Prior to commencing tuition, I assess the student’s current level and prepare targeted materials tailored specifically to their needs. Every session is purposefully planned — I do not use generic resources.

My lessons are built around the individual student. Before sessions begin, I assess each child’s current level and prepare tailored materials accordingly — every lesson is planned specifically for that student, not taken from a generic resource bank.
I bring over 15 years of primary school teaching experience, including senior leadership roles in Hong Kong, alongside three years of private tutoring in the UK. My degree in Linguistics directly informs how I teach English, with a strong focus on how children develop reading, writing, and grammatical accuracy.
Sessions are typically delivered online. I work with primary pupils at KS1 and KS2, students preparing for the 11+ English examination, and secondary students requiring structured English support. I am fully bilingual in English and Cantonese, and I particularly welcome enquiries from Hong Kong families based in the UK.
