About Maria
Hello! My name is Maria Paz, and I’m a passionate educator with years of experience teaching science in New Zealand. I’ve also had the privilege of teaching robotics, sparking creativity and problem-solving skills in my students. Beyond teaching, I’ve worked as a researcher and data scientist, diving deep into the world of physics and technology.
While I’ve enjoyed those professional experiences, what truly drives me is teaching. There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping students discover the wonders of science, watching their eyes light up with curiosity, and guiding them to reach their full potential. My goal is to make learning exciting, relatable, and empowering for every student I work with.

I aim to create engaging and interactive lessons that simplify complex scientific concepts, making them accessible and exciting for students. My teaching methodology involves hands-on activities, relatable examples, and clear explanations tailored to each student's learning style. For younger students in primary and middle school, I focus on nurturing curiosity about science through fun experiments and discussions. For high school students, especially in physics, I emphasize problem-solving techniques and real-world applications to build a strong foundation and boost confidence in the subject.
Each lesson lasts 1 hour, providing the perfect balance of focus and engagement to ensure effective learning without overwhelming the student.
As a PhD candidate in Physics with extensive experience teaching science, I bring both academic expertise and practical teaching skills. I’ve worked with students of various ages, helping them develop a deeper understanding of science while fostering a love for learning.
My lessons are ideal for:
- Primary and middle school students (ages 7–14) learning general science
- High school students (ages 15–18) studying physics
