Find out more about Satwat

  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first real experience with computers was all about curiosity. I wanted to understand how things actually worked, not just use them. I remember being fascinated by how you could break down a big problem into smaller steps and get a computer to solve it. That early curiosity about problem-solving and logic eventually led me down the path of learning algorithms, data structures, and machine learning, where computers actually learn to solve problems on their own.
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

The rise of machine learning has completely changed everything. We've gone from telling computers exactly what to do in every situation to creating systems that can learn from examples and figure things out themselves. But what really excites me is federated learning and distributed AI. Imagine training smart systems across thousands of devices while keeping everyone's data private and secure. This solves two huge problems at once: making AI more powerful while protecting privacy. I think this will be the future of how we build intelligent systems.
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I teach a wide range of computer science topics, from the fundamentals like algorithms and data structures to more specialized areas like machine learning, cybersecurity, and networks. Think of algorithms and data structures as the basic building blocks, like learning grammar before writing essays. Once you have those foundations, you can build almost anything.
My main area of focus is machine learning, and I actually do research on federated learning for IoT devices. I'm also teaching cybersecurity and networks because understanding how to build secure systems is just as important as building smart ones. These skills all connect in real applications. Whether you're building an app, analyzing data, or protecting systems from attacks, you need to understand how these pieces fit together.
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I respect what they've achieved, but I'm more inspired by educators and researchers who can take really complex ideas and make them understandable for everyone. People like Andrew Ng, who made machine learning accessible to millions of students worldwide, or teachers who can explain difficult concepts in ways that just make sense. What really inspires me are people who don't just create technology but help others understand it well enough to create their own innovations.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I had a student once who was really struggling with the concept of recursion, which is when a function calls itself to solve a problem. We were working through a tree traversal exercise, and suddenly their face just lit up. They said, "Oh! It's like the problem is solving itself by breaking into smaller and smaller versions!" That moment reminded me why I love teaching. It's not just about memorizing code or formulas. It's about that shift in thinking where something that seemed impossible suddenly becomes clear and logical.
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

I'd tell them that IT isn't too complicated, they're just looking at it from the wrong angle. When you see a finished product like a website or an AI system, it looks incredibly complex. But every complex system is built from simple building blocks like loops, conditions, and basic data storage. Even machine learning, which seems almost magical, is just math and logic that you can learn one step at a time. I've taught people with zero technical background who now work with AI and build secure systems. The secret is taking it step by step with someone who can guide you through it properly. Anyone can learn this stuff.
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I'm really passionate about learning itself and how people learn best. I love figuring out the most effective ways to explain complex topics and creating materials that help people progress smoothly from basics to advanced concepts. Whether it's designing lecture slides, setting up hands-on lab exercises, or finding the right examples to make something click, I enjoy the whole process of making difficult subjects accessible. I also enjoy research methodology and finding connections between different fields and problem-solving approaches.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I think what makes me different is that I cover everything from the ground up. I can teach you the fundamentals like algorithms and data structures, help you with problem-solving approaches, guide you through machine learning concepts, or show you how to secure networks and systems. I'm not just teaching from textbooks either. I'm actively doing research in federated learning, so I bring current, real-world knowledge into my teaching.
I also believe in hands-on learning. I create complete learning experiences with practical labs, coding examples, and structured lessons that build on each other. Whether you're a complete beginner trying to understand your first programming concept, a student who needs help with data structures for exams, or someone who wants to dive into machine learning or cybersecurity, I can meet you where you are and guide you to where you want to be. I explain things clearly because I remember what it's like to be learning these concepts for the first time.
