About Angus
The best way to learn maths is to understand it, not memorise it. In each topic, we will build intuition before introducing formal techniques, so that even difficult topics become memorable.
As a PhD graduate from the University of Strathclyde and a master's graduate from the University of Cambridge, I have a strong academic background. My aim is not only to help students achieve outstanding exam results, but also to develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
Whether you're an ambitious GCSE or A Level student or an undergraduate studying engineering, physics, or mathematics, I'd like to help you master your maths.

I teach mathematics by starting with intuitive problems before introducing the formal techniques. It will be about understanding where techniques come from, rather than memorising formulae.
Lessons are typically 45 minutes and involve: a short warm-up, an interactive problem-solving activity, explanation of the underlying theory, guided practice, and challenging extension questions to think about between lessons.
After each session, you'll receive PDF notes and tailored homework questions for further practice.
I hold a PhD from the University of Strathclyde and the University of Cambridge, as well as a Master's degree in Materials Science. I have successfully tutored peers to A* grades in A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
My lessons are ideal for ambitious GCSE and A Level students aiming for top grades, as well as undergraduate students studying engineering, physics, mathematics, and related disciplines who want to master university-level mathematics.
