About Aaron
With A-levels in Maths, Physics and Biology, a Master's in Geology and a PhD in Planetary Science, I have a great understanding of basic mathematical and scientific concepts with advanced knowledge in geology, planetary science and physics. Having always had an avid interest in science and maths from a young age and a love for sharing my knowledge, I can explain these sometimes complicated concepts in an easy-to-understand fashion. I spent 3 years during my PhD as a graduate teaching assistant both planning and delivering teaching to undergraduate geology students. During this time I did regular one-on-one sessions teaching concepts, going over essays and exam questions and even marking and providing feedback for work. I developed additional teaching materials based on exam board requirements. Additionally, I spent several summers working for a language school in which I had to come up with novel and interesting ways to communicate and teach students with limited English. This further developed my ability to adapt my teaching methods and tailor them to a student's needs. My teaching style is centred on developing an understanding of concepts through different revision techniques I myself used to achieve my qualifications and subsequent practice of working through problems and exam-style questions. I encourage students to ask as many questions as possible to ensure a good understanding of concepts and to address any shortcomings in their understanding.

I approach my tutoring with patience in mind and with the intention of developing understanding and confidence rather than memorisation. My experience as a graduate teaching assistant at Imperial College, along with my experience working for Ardmore Languages schools coaching students from many European and Asian countries has given me the ability to explain and present complicated mathematical and scientific concepts with a tailored approach based on the students' needs and abilities. I use real-world examples and analogies to make abstract ideas more easily understandable. A typical lesson lasts 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and attention span. I usually begin with a short recap, move into guided practice on key topics, and end with exam-style questions to consolidate learning. I tutor GCSE Maths and Science (for students aged 14–16) and A-Level Physics, Biology, and Geology (for students aged 16–18). My lessons are tailored to exam board requirements but flexible enough to respond to each student’s learning style and goals, whether that’s improving grades, preparing for university entrance, or simply building confidence in the subject.
