About Henry
I earned my PhD from Stanford University in the Humanities in 2019. For the last 5 years, I've worked full time as a professional tutor, working with mostly high school students on their analytic writing, college essays, and standardized test preparation. My students have been published in the New York Times and regularly score in top 1% of standardized test takers. I'm also a former college athlete, and I think we should be having fun (and worker smarter, not necessarily harder) in tutoring sessions.

I treat tutoring almost like a clinical practice. I engage students with lots of questions and guided examples that involve them in the thinking process. But in doing this, I'm not just trying to get what's in my head into their head. Rather, I attempt to diagnose a student's default way of thinking so that we can adjust it to the demands of the specific assignment, exam, or their weird teacher (I've seen it all). I meet students where they are at and help them get to where they'd like to go.
I've also trained many tutors how to do this, and I have a knack for explaining complicated things in a way that is simple and memorable.
I like to have fun. I know my stuff, and I think tutoring should be fun for you too.
