About Gavin
With a passion for all things English literature and over ten years of experience teaching in UK independent schools, and international universities, I hope to provide enthusiastic and effective tutoring to students preparing for 11+, GCSE, A levels and Oxbridge entry.
In terms of my own education, I earned a PhD in English from Oxford university, an MA in literature from St Andrew’s, and a BA from the University of Wittswatersand where I also taught as a lecturer.
In terms of my approach, I am conversational in tutoring sessions while also being serious about encouraging growth. I help students gather the strength and acumen to make intellectual and imaginative leaps in their work, and have a record of obtaining strong results.
My preference is for online tutoring but I may be available locally in certain circumstances. Please feel free to be in touch.
