About Stephen
I'm retired but I enjoy teaching part time. I graduated with a PhD in Elementary Particle Physics from Oklahoma State University in 1999. I meet students where they are at and try to make learning fun. I was a beginner once too. I'm patient. I know how to identify the areas where a student is weak. Emotion is an important factor in learning. If a student feels overwhelmed they don't learn. It's important to take one thing at a time. Just one concept will empower a student more than hours of frustration. Everyone is different. I'll patiently listen and work with you at your speed and level.

The first thing we'll determine is the best way I can help you. Everyone is different. Some people are anxious. I have found that most of the time that is because students are impatient with themselves. They want to understand everything all at once and get frustrated when they can't. They take bites that are too big and try to swallow without properly chewing. Then they choke. Also, they don't know what is important. I'll teach you the concepts you need to know in bite sizes that you can handle. Then I'll guide you as you apply the concepts to problems in the sections you are studying. We will continue until you are able to confidently apply the concepts on your own. I teach all levels of math and physics. That includes beginning algebra, college algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, differential equations, introductory physics, graduate level physics, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.
