About Ethan
Hey there! My name is Ethan (he/him), and I am a PhD student and university lecturer in English Literature, specialising in nineteenth-century queer writing.
Growing up, I had lots of great teachers, but none more brilliant than my high-school English teacher. Her belief in me was unfailing, and her passion for all things Brontë inspired me to study English Literature at university. Now, as a tutor and university lecturer, I draw on her incredible example everyday.
Based in the UK, I am an AFHEA accredited tutor, with over five years of teaching experience across a range of year groups. I believe that education should be fun, inclusive, and accessible for everyone. Signing up for tutoring can be a scary prospect, but I believe in you. Everyone has the potential to succeed and I will work hard to make that happen.

I am an AFHEA accredited university tutor and PhD student in English Literature, with a specialism in Victorian fiction. My approach to teaching is student-centred. I take time to chat to each student and work hard to devise a plan that works best for you. My lesson plans are interactive, engaging, and designed to bring out the best in you. I use writing exercises, videos, games, extracts from set texts, and mock-tests to challenge your thinking and hone your key skills.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE, A-Level, and IB students, wanting to concentrate on English Literature (Poetry, the Novel, Drama) and Creative Writing. They typically last 1 hour, with a short 5 minute break halfway through.
