About Janine
I am a PhD Research student at the University of Reading. I completed my Undergraduate degree in Physiology and Masters degree in Biomedical Science at Cardiff University. I presented my Masters research project findings at two conferences.
Whilst living in Cardiff, I volunteered as a classroom assistant in a high school where I took on small groups for extra Biology tuition.
Alongside my PhD I work at Reading University as an academic mentor, which requires me to have a good understanding of how to prioritise workload and structure learning. I also work as a lab demonstrator in undergraduate practical sessions. This helps to widen the breadth of my knowledge and practical skills, as these sessions are often not related to my own research.

I am able to teach Biology up to A level, with a good understanding of Human Physiology and Neuroscience. I can also tutor undergraduate students in topics including Endocrinology, Feeding Behaviour, Brain Development.
Alongside tutoring core materials, I aim to help students develop skills in critical writing, understanding papers and analysing data. These skills are transferrable to most subjects and are especially important for those thinking of, or already at, University.
