About Pawel
I am a PhD student at UCL, studying particle physics. I completed my undergraduate Masters at Imperial College studying Physics with Theoretical Physics (in which I achieved a first class honour), which I followed with a Masters in Scientific Computing at UCL (in which I achieved a distinction). Note - lessons available online only. My objective is to teach my students as effectively as possible. I initially work out my students' objectives and assess where they are at the beginning of sessions. Throughout initial lessons I try a variety of methods to find out which teaching tool gives the greatest results, and structure my lessons using the chosen technique. As an online teacher, the tool I use most frequently is a screen share via Zoom with the textbook on one side of the screen, and a notepad on the other which I send the student at the end of each of their sessions. I use a variety of materials, including textbooks, past papers, course specifications, and online videos. I have been tutoring since I was 16, predominantly in person, but during the pandemic I switched to online teaching, as I found students tend to work best in environments that they are comfortable in. I have found this to be a very effective method of teaching, eliminating pressure from a new environment and commuting time and costs. I started during my time at school, tutoring one on one, tutoring in small focus groups, and teaching whole classes of 30+ students. I continued tutoring one on one during my undergraduate, and continue doing so in my postgraduate studies, during which I also teach at university. My lessons are aimed for students of all ability - everyone is able to make the best of themselves and achieve the goals they set themselves. I have had a range of experience - from having weekly classes with students for those who need to be pushed to their limits to students in difficult situations that needed a full course review, having classes 7 days a week. Each of these students have demonstrated their full potential both in my classes and in assessed environments. I primarily teach GCSE and A level students, but also teach some undergraduate courses (please get in touch if this is applicable).
