About Donya
Hi, I’m Donya—a professor, curriculum designer, and incoming PhD student in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Virginia. With over 7 years of experience teaching reading and writing to more than 700 students across middle school, high school, and college, I specialize in helping learners feel confident, capable, and clear in their communication. My approach is supportive, culturally responsive, and results-driven. Whether we’re working on reading comprehension, a research paper, or a college essay, I’m here to guide you step by step with strategies that actually make sense. I believe learning should feel empowering—not overwhelming. I’ve helped students get into top universities, improve their writing by several grade levels, and rediscover a love of reading. As a professor, curriculum designer, and literacy specialist, my tutoring approach is rooted in care, clarity, and culturally responsive teaching. A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session follows a clear structure:

- A recap with next steps or a mini-assignment to reinforce skills

I bring 7+ years of classroom experience across middle school, high school, and college levels—plus a trauma-informed and culturally sustaining approach.
