About Jeff
My academic background is heavily rooted in Philosophy.
I hold an Honors BA in Philosophy and Film Studies and a Master's degree in Philosophy, and I am currently completing doctoral studies at York University.
I also have eight years of university teaching experience through York University and Brock University, including teaching introductory Philosophy and related humanities and social science courses.
I especially enjoy helping students who find Philosophy interesting but struggle with dense readings, abstract concepts or figuring out how to turn their ideas into a strong academic paper.

Philosophy can become overwhelming quickly when unfamiliar terminology, dense readings and abstract arguments all arrive at once.
I help students break complex philosophical ideas into something understandable and manageable.
Depending on your course and goals, sessions can include:
• understanding philosophical texts and arguments
• breaking down difficult readings
• logic and argumentation
• comparing philosophical theories
• developing essay topics and thesis statements
• structuring philosophy papers
• strengthening critical analysis
• preparing for exams and written assessments
• reviewing and improving drafts
I use discussion and questioning rather than simply lecturing. The goal is to help you understand the reasoning behind an argument and develop your own ability to analyze and respond to it.
I can support students from introductory Philosophy courses through advanced university-level work.
