About Matthew
I am in a first year PhD student in mathematics at North Carolina State University. I have tutored for three years total and have tutored seven students individually and several others in groups. I also have been a teaching assistant for two Finite Mathematics classes at NC State this year. My students get the results they hope for so long as they agree to put in work as well.

I am willing to teach any level, but I would probably be best suited for high school and older since I have never tutored younger ages. Since every student learns differently, my techniques for teaching differs with the student. If a student does not understand a concept, we will go in a little more depth about why some material is the way it is (for instance, if a student has trouble remembering a formula, we would derive the formula so they can see what it means). Additionally, we will go over a variety of examples to get more comfortable with the material. If the problems the student has from a teacher, class, or book are not enough, I will also come up with problems on my own of about the same difficulty. I typically will try to figure out the best way for each of my students to learn within two meetings.

Details
When determining time of the lesson, I will round to the nearest hour in most cases (i.e. if the lesson was 1 hour and 29 minutes, I would charge for 1 hour). If you cancel with at least 1 hour notice, there will be no cancellation fee. There is no charge for the first last minute cancellation (less than 1 hour notice), but there will be a $10 fee for each one after.
