About Emily
Hello! I'm Emily, currently a philosophy undergraduate at the University of Manchester. I have always been strongly passionate for English literature and carry that passion to unlocking the potential of any English student. Having achieved top grades in English in GCSEs and A Level respectively, I am deeply familiar with exam technique and the fundamentals of strong writing. I want to teach because anyone can excel in English, but often needs an extra push, and that is what I hope to provide. I strive to create a supportive and comfortable environment with my students, where all questions and learning paces are welcome. If you are looking to take your English to the next level and set yourself up for success, it would be a delight to work with you!

I focus above all on practical, tested techniques to thematically dissect texts, ingrain good habits for exam/essay writing, and to read closely with a careful eye. I will tailor to every student's level, prioritising confidence, practice, and guidance. I typically teach 60-minute lessons. However, I am open to adjustments of 45 or 90 minute lessons respectively. While new to tutoring, I have always had a strong academic background, achieving two 9s in my English GCSEs and an A* in my English A Level. I have helped many classmates with their exam preparations also. My lessons are primarily aimed at GCSE and A Level students. I am happy to assist with English Language, but my specific focus will be English Literature.
