About On
I am a Ph.D. physicist and a researcher at the University of Washington, with extensive experience in both academic research and teaching. My background allows me to explain complex ideas in a clear, structured, and intuitive way, while adapting each lesson to the student’s level and learning style.
I approach tutoring with a high level of professionalism and responsibility. Lessons are well prepared, punctual, and goal-oriented. I take time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and objectives, and I communicate clearly with students (and parents, when appropriate) about progress and expectations.
Having worked with students from elementary school through high school, I understand that every learner is different. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence at their own pace.
My goal is not only to help students succeed in a particular subject or exam, but also to equip them with strong problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and confidence that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.

I believe motivation is the foundation of effective learning. Students learn best when they understand why something matters and when they can see themselves making progress toward a concrete goal. My role as a tutor is not only to explain concepts clearly, but also to help students build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of ownership over their learning.
I tailor my teaching style to each student’s level, personality, and goals. I frequently use:
- Guided problem-solving, where we work through examples together step by step
- Conceptual explanations before formulas, so students understand the “why,” not just the “how”
- Quick puzzles, logic games, and thought experiments to spark interest and sharpen intuition
- Real-world applications (science, technology, everyday examples) to make abstract ideas tangible
- Incremental challenges, gradually increasing difficulty to build confidence without frustration
I emphasize clear thinking, structured reasoning, and learning how to approach unfamiliar problems independently.
A typical lesson includes:
1. Check-in and review of previous material or homework
2. Goal-setting for the session (what we want to understand or achieve by the end)
3. Concept explanation with visual aids, examples, or analogies
4. Active practice, where the student solves problems with guidance and feedback
5. Reflection and summary, reinforcing key ideas and identifying next steps
This structure ensures steady progress while keeping lessons engaging and focused.
What sets me apart as a tutor:
- I hold a Ph.D. in physics and am an active researcher at the University of Washington, which allows me to connect foundational concepts to advanced applications.
- I have extensive experience working with students at different levels and adapting explanations until they truly “click.”
- I focus on building problem-solving skills and confidence, not just short-term test performance.
- I help students set realistic, meaningful goals and guide them step by step toward achieving them.
My lessons are suitable for:
- Elementary and middle school students building strong foundations in math and logical thinking
- High school students, including those preparing for exams, advanced classes, or university admission
- Students who feel stuck, lack confidence, or want to move beyond memorization to real understanding
I work especially well with students who want structured guidance, encouragement, and a clear path toward improvement.
