About John
I'm John, a physicist living in Greater Moncton. I earned my PhD in physics at the University of Toronto, then worked as a research fellow with the National Research Council at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, publishing peer-reviewed research in molecular spectroscopy. I went on to spend two decades in industry, founding and leading two deep-technology companies as CEO and earning recognition as a named inventor on more than 15 patents. Along the way I mentored researchers and entrepreneurs and gave university guest lectures. I care about doing things properly and explaining them clearly, and I bring that same patience and rigor to tutoring. I'm fully bilingual in English and French, and I genuinely enjoy helping people understand physics and mathematics.

Lessons are for high-school, CEGEP, and university students in physics and mathematics, adult and returning learners, and anyone preparing for exams or standardized-test science sections. My approach is built on intuition rather than memorization: I focus on the "why" behind each equation — the mental picture — so problems stop looking like a wall of formulas. A typical lesson begins by pinpointing exactly where your understanding breaks down (a wrong sign, a missing free-body diagram, a concept that never quite clicked), then rebuilds from that point with worked examples and questions that check for real understanding. What sets me apart: I hold a PhD in physics and have spent 20+ years actually using science to build technology, as a research fellow and as the founder of two deep-tech companies — so lessons connect to how the world really works, not just the textbook. I teach patiently, in English or French.
