About Michael
Hello!
I am a recent Columbia physics/mathematics dual major and professional tutor and private researcher currently studying conformal field theories and gravitational waves. Prior to college, I was a teacher's aide at a Las Vegas charter school, where I led both: small groups of gifted middle school students in high school math subjects, and students who were having difficulty grasping certain concepts that would free them to catch up to their class. While physics is my field, mathematics are my passion, and I hope that I can pass along my expertise and curiosity on to you.

I teach/tutor at all levels from middle school to college undergrad at all levels of development. I follow a concept-based methodology -- your success at learning a topic isn't complete until you fluidly understand how to rebuild the topic yourself. When a student encounters difficulties with a topic, I typically instruct by going back to a previous step of learning that may be unstable or not understood completely. This method not only gives you mastery of the subject at hand, but also the comfort and confidence to know when to use it, and how to use it perfectly.

Details
If multiple students (between two and four students) need help with the same subject, I offer a 40% discount per student and waive the travel fee ($21 per student per hour, or $99 per student for five hours, or $186 per student for ten hours).
I understand that NYC students are often extremely busy with other coursework and obligations, so I also offer "Emergency Prep" sessions, which are full-day or weekend-long sessions (5 hours Saturday/Sunday only, or 10 hours split between Saturday and Sunday) from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. These sessions are available on a first-come-first-served basis and typically fill by Wednesday or Thursday. The time for these sessions is prorated (if you only need three hours, you will only be charged for three hours), but the minimum cost is fixed at $70.
