About Lydia
In my lessons, we will explore the fascinating frontiers of modern physics and uncover the principles that govern the universe. Together, we’ll study relativity—both special and general—quantum mechanics, and nuclear physics with a blend of deep theoretical understanding and experimental insight. Each topic will be approached through rigorous analysis, simplified explanations, and hands-on thought experiments that make complex ideas easier to grasp. We’ll also examine how modern research continues to challenge our understanding of space, time, and matter. Discussions will include the latest scientific breakthroughs and their impact on technology, the environment, and society. My goal is to nurture curiosity, sharpen reasoning, and inspire students to think beyond conventional boundaries. Lessons are structured yet open-minded, encouraging exploration and creativity in problem-solving. I provide step-by-step guidance and clear feedback to ensure steady progress and confidence in handling advanced topics. By the end of our journey, you’ll not only master key ideas in modern physics but also develop a deeper appreciation for the universe’s most profound mysteries. Together, we’ll explore the very fabric of reality with both wonder and precision.

With over 8 years of tutoring experience and an MSc in Medical Physics, I bring a deep and applied understanding of materials science physics to my lessons. My passion lies in exploring how atomic-scale imperfections influence the properties and performance of real-world materials. I focus on bridging theory with practice, helping students visualise and comprehend the invisible yet powerful mechanisms that shape the behaviour of matter. In my sessions, we dive into topics such as crystal defects, grain boundaries, diffusion, and phase transitions, emphasising both their theoretical basis and industrial relevance. I use visual examples, diagrams, and simulations to make these complex ideas intuitive and memorable. For instance, studying phase diagrams of steel allows us to connect thermodynamic principles with practical engineering outcomes. This approach ensures that every concept is anchored in a real material or process. I have had the privilege of guiding university students and researchers eager to deepen their understanding of the physical principles governing engineered materials. My teaching emphasises critical thinking, visualisation, and curiosity-driven exploration rather than rote memorisation. Each lesson is carefully structured to build both conceptual clarity and analytical confidence. Ultimately, my goal is to help you become a well-rounded physicist—one who can connect the microscopic origins of defects and transitions to the macroscopic behaviour of materials. Through this journey, you’ll gain not only knowledge but also the insight to see the hidden physics shaping the world around us.
