About David
I have 27 years experience teaching high school physics including applied physics and college prep physics.
I also have about 10 years experience teaching college physics including conceptual physics, algebra-based Physics I and II, and calculus-based Physics I. I have adapted my lessons to science and engineering majors as well as biology and health majors.
I am willing to accept a lower fee if financial need can be demonstrated, but only for serious students. If I detect a lack of effort, I will stop tutoring.
I have my background clearances for PA and can share them if needed.

I emphasize a conceptual problem-solving approach, not just a plug and chug approach using the “right” equation.
Many students struggle with physics due to poor algebra skills (either because it not well learned or it was forgotten due to lack of use). I can help with this, but it will take a lot of time and effort on the part of the student.
The second most common problem for students is determining which equation to use. My problem-solving approach strongly helps students overcome this problem.
The third most common problem in physics is the large number of equations. If the teacher requires memorizing them, this becomes a big hurdle. I can help with this also.
Another problem in physics is that it is a very cumulative subject, meaning it builds on previous concepts. So, unless the first concepts are well understood, the student will struggle with successive concepts. I would need to assess what concepts are and are not understood to best help a student.
Lastly, students who struggle with solving word problems in math class may find it hard to determine what concepts are provided and sought in physics problems. My problem-solving approach focuses on key words and ideas to help students understand what concepts are relevant to each problem.
