About Phoebe
Learning music, no matter your age and ability, will benefit your life so much. I am so grateful to my mum for encouraging me and it's sculpted my whole life. I do believe there is a primitive, human need to feel music, and it would be a pleasure to guide you towards how to feel AND play! If you're already along your musical journey and you need to reconnect, learn something new or want to find a challenge, we can get those cogs a'turnin'! Hi I'm Phoebe. I am a pianist of 20+ years and a music school graduate. I am a composer for film and I started teaching almost 10 years ago. After a short break from teaching to pursuit other goals, I would love to speak with you about how we can work together on your musical journey.
I started teaching when I was 16 when I worked as a piano accompanist to 2 young string orchestras, alongside teaching private lessons to individual students, children and adults. I went on to study classical music at Cardiff University and since graduating I have written music for adverts, short films and theatre, with the goal to move on to feature films. For the past year I have taught English to Chinese students ages 3-16 and I have gained a lot of new teaching skills which I will bring to our lessons.
Looking at the lessons, first I want to get to know how you work as a student - will we learn classical, pop structures, theory?? Why do you want to learn how to play? I will teach technique, theory and practice, all completely tailored to your goals, who you are and how you learn. I am a true believer that all learning is fun, especially when we get to play music! The lessons are typically 1 hour, as this is a good amount of time to let the learned knowledge sink in and apply it with practice together.
