About Ian
I am a piano tutor with 7 years of experience and a B.Mus in Piano Performance along with an M.Mus in Music Pedagogy. I specialize in developing technical skill, musicality, and ensemble performance readiness. I teach beginners establishing foundational techniques, intermediate learners refining technical and expressive skills, and advanced students mastering complex repertoire and ensemble work. Lessons integrate structured exercises, improvisation, and performance coaching. My teaching approach adapts to each learner’s abilities and goals. Beginners focus on posture, fingering, and basic melodies. Intermediate learners refine phrasing, sight-reading, and technical proficiency. Advanced learners explore expressive repertoire, ensemble performance, and stage confidence. Feedback is continuous, constructive, and tailored. Lessons balance technical growth, creative exploration, and performance readiness. Outside teaching, I perform, study diverse repertoire, and mentor students for recitals, competitions, and ensemble work.
