About Fiona
I began playing the piano as a child, captivated by its expressive power and the way it could communicate emotion without words. Over the years, I have performed, composed, and taught students across all levels, finding immense fulfillment in helping learners discover their musical voice. Teaching allows me to share not only technical knowledge but also the joy and inspiration that music brings to life. My teaching philosophy is patient, encouraging, and adaptive. I design lessons around each student’s strengths, interests, and goals, combining technical drills with creative projects and performance practice. I focus on fostering both skill and confidence, ensuring that every learner progresses in a supportive and motivating environment. Outside of teaching, I perform, compose, and explore diverse musical styles to bring freshness and depth to my lessons. For me, teaching piano is a way to inspire creativity, cultivate artistry, and empower students to express themselves with confidence, skill, and passion.

My piano lessons focus on cultivating both technical mastery and artistic expression in a holistic, engaging way. I believe that learning the piano is most effective when students feel inspired, challenged, and personally connected to the music. Lessons include scales, sight-reading, repertoire practice, improvisation, and music theory, all blended with exercises that encourage interpretation, creativity, and emotional connection to the music. I also emphasize listening skills, ensemble work, and performance preparation to ensure that students grow as versatile and confident musicians.
Lessons are customized for all skill levels. Beginners focus on posture, finger coordination, basic scales, and simple pieces to build foundational skills and confidence. Intermediate students refine phrasing, dynamics, and expressive techniques, while advanced learners explore complex repertoire, composition, and performance artistry. Each session combines structured practice with opportunities for creative exploration, allowing students to develop technical precision alongside their unique artistic voice.
Students gain not only proficiency but also the ability to interpret and convey emotion through music. They learn discipline, patience, and confidence while discovering the joy of creative expression. My goal is to foster both technical skill and artistic growth, helping students build a lifelong connection to music and develop the confidence to perform with poise and authenticity.
