About Brittany
I have been teaching piano and keyboard for 5 years and I started teaching privately while completing my music education degree at the University of Alabama. I hold a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Alabama. Piano was a central part of my entire music education training and I developed a strong foundation in classical technique, contemporary styles, and music theory application throughout my studies. My piano students have passed RCM Grade examinations from Grade 1 through Grade 7, scored well in AP Music Theory, and several have gone on to pursue music at the college level. In 2021 two of my students placed in the top three at a regional youth piano competition, which was a genuinely proud moment that reflected the hard work both students had put into their preparation. I take a very focused and goal-driven approach to piano teaching because I believe students make the fastest and most lasting progress when they have a clear target to work toward, a smart plan to get there, and a teacher who holds them accountable and gives them the deep understanding they need to actually achieve it.

My piano and keyboard lessons are result-oriented and focused on giving every student smart, practical techniques that lead to deep understanding and real, measurable progress at every stage of their musical journey. I teach acoustic piano, digital keyboard, and synthesizer. My lessons cover proper hand position and posture, note reading and sheet music, scales, chords and arpeggios, classical and contemporary repertoire, pop and jazz piano fundamentals, synthesizer and keyboard basics, MIDI introduction, music theory from beginner through advanced, rhythm and timing, and RCM and ABRSM grade exam preparation. I specialize in preparing students for music exams by working through past exam questions, grade-specific repertoire, theory papers, and aural tests so every student walks into their exam feeling fully prepared and completely confident in their ability to perform well under pressure.
