About Dusan
I am a professional Jazz pianist, and keyboardist, playing various genres of music, in various venues for the past 15 years, from accompanying pop singers, to jazz concerts in jazz clubs. I've studied jazz piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where I acquired the knowledge that enabled me to understand and get deep into any genre of music.

I teach all levels, from beginners to people who already play. We will usually learn a song, analyze the harmony, melody and rhythm, and work on the students performance. Regarding melodic improvisation, we would start with the pentatonic and blues scales, since they can fit into any harmony, and genre of music, and then later get into 2-5-1, and jazz bebop lines, if the student wants to get further with their improvisation. By the way, on which ever level musicians improvisation is, on that level is also their composition, so these lessons are also for people who want to write music.
I am also classically trained, so we can read music, or learn written pieces, if the student wants, but we will always analyze everything, and the student must understand what he or she is playing, not just learning to press keys, without knowing the harmony and theory behind it.
That is what's unique about my lessons, that integral knowledge and full understanding of music, that allows me to break barriers between genres and deconstruct and explain everything, from Robert Glasper and J Dilla, to Beethoven, or 50's and 60's Jazz Bebop.

Perfect! This guy is the truth! I've been taking lessons with him for just over a month. A few things
1. Just a great guy - friendly and funny and a real jazz lover
2. A really thoughtful teacher who uses music to teach theory rather than vice versa - one example is we do exercises to transcribe pieces to do ear training rather than just playing a note and having me repeat it back to him.
3. He stacks the lessons - once you've mastered one basic concept, he teaches you something else... then 3 stacks later you understand and are able to put all the concepts together. We're doing this right now with Autumn leaves and 2-5-1 progressions and it's been great.
Overall - so happy i found him as a teacher (and I had trial lessons with other teachers on the platform).- Travis is smart, he get's things fast, and he is very much interested in jazz music. He understands it emotionaly, which makes learning theory and the basics much easyer. If we continue with this tempo, I'm expecting him to really play, in next one to two years.Dusan's response :
Perfect! I was nervous about learning jazz piano, but Dusan is very encouraging. He's always prepared for the lesson and provides a lot of helpful resources for practicing. Dusan is fantastic! I’ve been in lessons with him for a few months now and I don’t plan on stopping. My playing, music theory and confidence continues to improve. Highly recommend.
Dusan finds ways to demonstrate and explain things which makes them "click" where they didn't previously. He listens when I struggle and coaches me along. A whole new world of piano has opened to me.
Dusan is a highly competent piano teacher with an approach tailored to the needs and abilities of his students. He definitely knows how to improve and advance your playing. As a jazz specialist, Dusan took me back to basics with scales, chords, improvisation and teaching the theory behind jazz standards and how music in general is structured. It is a real privilege to attend his lessons.
He is super talented, extremely knowledgeable and compassionate teacher. He always connects the dots for me. I know I cant be a star over night and he keeps me motivated to keep up the good work.
