About Mark
I am a piano player and tutor of music theory, jazz improvisation and music technology applications. Following 25 years as a contract musician, I moved into the digital realm, tutoring in digital media, including music composition, recording, editing and publishing. I continue to play in small and large ensembles, and solo, in a broad range of styles including jazz, R&B, pop and classical.

I approach music student lessons with a structure that brings together the student's current abilities with their potential to grow in a particular field. I model a learning activity, allowing the student to contribute/participate, while gradually increasing the level of challenge. This works particularly well in live performance studies. In music theory and jazz improv studies, the student will use live instrument or voice to reinforce a concept. I encourage practice at home and electronic recording for analysis of newly introduced material. Listening to a broad range of music is critical to achieving goals.
