About Isla
My passion for piano began when I first started exploring music during my early education. I was fascinated by the way the piano could produce both melody and harmony at the same time, creating rich and expressive musical textures. This interest encouraged me to study music more deeply, eventually leading me to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Music followed by a Master’s in Piano Pedagogy.
Over the past 9 years, I have taught piano to students of different ages and skill levels. Some learners wanted to prepare for performances or music examinations, while others simply wanted to learn the instrument as a creative hobby. Teaching students with different goals helped me develop flexible teaching methods.
My teaching approach focuses on structured learning, patience, and encouraging musical curiosity. I guide students through exercises that strengthen technique while also helping them explore musical expression. Watching students develop confidence at the piano and enjoy the experience of creating music is one of the most rewarding parts of my teaching journey.

My piano lessons focus on helping students build a strong foundation in both musical technique and expressive playing. The piano offers an excellent way to understand melody, harmony, and rhythm together, making it a valuable instrument for musical development. In my lessons, students gradually learn how to read musical notation, control finger movement, and produce balanced sound while playing different pieces.
Each lesson usually begins with warm-up exercises that strengthen finger coordination and improve hand flexibility. Students practice scales, simple chord patterns, and rhythm exercises that develop the technical skills needed for confident playing. These activities help learners become comfortable with the keyboard while understanding how notes combine to create music.
As students progress further, lessons include learning musical pieces from different genres and exploring expressive elements such as phrasing and dynamics. Students also learn practice techniques that help them improve steadily between lessons. My goal is to help learners enjoy the process of playing the piano while building strong musical understanding and performance confidence.
