About Arnold
With an LTCL Piano Diploma and over a decade of performing experience, I bring both professionalism and passion to my lessons. I earned 3rd place in the Malaysian Youth Music Festival (2011, Piano Diploma) and specialize in guiding students to confidently play by ear and improvise with creativity. My teaching style is supportive and structured, tailored to each student’s needs and goals. Playing by ear opens up a whole new world of musical freedom. Let's unlock that together.
I adopt a fun, personalized, and engaging approach to teaching piano improvisation and relative pitch. My methodology focuses on practical, ear-training exercises that help students develop their ability to play pop songs by ear and understand musical structures naturally.
Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes and is structured into warm-ups, ear training, song practice, and improvisation exercises. I also provide tailored homework to reinforce skills and ensure steady progress between sessions.
The goal of these lessons is not just to learn one specific song, but to develop the fundamental skill of playing music by ear through a heightened understanding of chords, pitch, and intervals. Beyond being a fantastic party trick, you will effortlessly connect with and appreciate any song you hear on the radio in a new, meaningful, analytic way.
Required: Age 10+. Grade 4 or above in piano performance and/or music theory is preferred.
