About Lalanthika
A highly experienced and dedicated postgraduate-qualified English Language teacher with 30 years of international teaching experience across Sri Lanka, Seychelles, and the United Kingdom. Experienced in teaching and supporting learners from Early Childhood Education (ECE) through primary, secondary, and university levels, as well as preparing students for the IELTS examination. My postgraduate background in Special Needs Education has developed my expertise in inclusive teaching, differentiated instruction, and supporting learners with diverse abilities, needs, and learning styles.
I am passionate about education and committed to helping learners develop confidence, effective communication skills, academic achievement, and lifelong learning skills. I bring a student-centered and inclusive approach to teaching, adapting lessons and learning strategies to meet individual needs and maximize each learner’s potential.
My extensive IELTS teaching experience includes developing students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, while providing targeted guidance in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, examination techniques, and time management to help learners achieve their desired results.
Having worked across diverse international educational settings, I offer strong communication skills, cultural awareness, adaptability, professionalism, and a proven commitment to learner success. I am dedicated to creating positive, supportive, and engaging learning environments in which every student is encouraged to overcome challenges, reach their potential, and achieve their academic and professional goals.

My teaching approach is student-centered, inclusive, and adapted to each learner’s individual needs, level, learning style, and goals. I use a range of techniques, including clear explanations, guided practice, interactive activities, questioning, discussion, role-play, reading and writing exercises, and regular feedback. For learners with additional needs, I differentiate lessons and provide appropriate support to help them build confidence and make steady progress. In IELTS preparation, I focus on developing all four skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—while also teaching examination strategies, time management, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
Lessons typically last between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the learner’s age, level, and objectives. Each lesson is carefully planned and structured, usually beginning with a review of previous learning, followed by the introduction of new material, guided practice, and a final review or assessment.
My lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, university students, adult learners, English language learners, students with special educational needs, and IELTS candidates. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment in which every student feels encouraged to participate, develop their skills, and achieve their academic or examination goals.
A lesson of 1 hour is $35 to $40 if conducted online. If I physically visit it will be $55.
