About Lorinda
After my graduation from the National Institute of Education in 1992, I was posted to Ai Tong School. I taught the upper primary classes (P4-P6) and was appointed Head of Department (HOD) in 1997. I was seconded to the MOE HQ from 2007 - 2010 where I trained cluster superintendents, principals, HODs and English Language teachers in the use of technology in their lessons. After my term in MOE HQ, I was appointed School Staff Developer (SSD) in St Gabriel's Primary School and specialized in the teaching of English in the primary school.

Utilizes a variety of activities, such as role-plays and group discussions to enhance students' fluency, pronunciation, and confidence in expressing their thoughts orally. By providing constructive feedback and implementing targeted practice sessions, I ensure that each student receives personalized support to overcome challenges and improve their spoken English abilities. In terms of comprehension skills, I emphasize the development of critical thinking and analytical abilities. I employ a range of strategies, like close reading, inference-making, and questioning techniques, to help students comprehend and interpret various texts effectively. Regarding composition skills, I adopt a systematic approach to guide students through the writing process, starting from pre-writing activities to final editing and revision stages. I emphasize the importance of organization, coherence, and clarity in written expression, while also encouraging creativity and originality. I provide students with mentor texts and individualized feedback to help them refine their writing skills and develop a strong command of grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
