About Ari
I am a University of Kentucky student studying Pre-Law, Criminal Justice, and Neuroscience, with a 36 ACT score in both English and Reading. My education has given me a strong foundation in reading, writing, grammar, and argumentation, which I bring into each lesson.
I take tutoring seriously, but I also want students to feel comfortable and relaxed during our lessons. I come prepared, listen to what each student needs, and make sure our time together is focused and productive. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking their time when they need to.
My goal is not just to help students get through an assignment, but to help them actually understand the material and become more confident in their abilities. I pride myself on my students leaving each lesson feeling like they learned something they can use on their own.

My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students in Lexington, KY, who need support with reading comprehension, English, grammar, essay writing, writing organization, school assignments, or ACT English and Reading preparation. I work with students at different skill levels and adjust each lesson to their individual strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
To get the best out of your student, I focus on making difficult concepts simple, understandable, and applicable. I use examples, guided practice, questions, and step-by-step explanations to help students recognize patterns, that allow them to understand difficult material and develop skills they can use independently. I also work through mistakes with students so they can learn from them instead of simply correcting them.
A typical lesson begins with a 5–10 minute review of previous material and any questions the student may have. We then introduce the focus of the lesson and spend time working through it together. After guided practice, the student completes independent work while I provide assistance when needed. We finish by reviewing the student’s progress using a “teach it back to me” method, filling any gaps in knowledge, and identifying what to focus on next.
What sets me apart is my ability to explain English, reading, and writing in a relatable and straightforward way. As a younger college student, I consider myself relatable to students and can connect with them through real-world experiences and often shared interests and culture. My Pre-Law studies give me a strong foundation in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and argumentation, while my Criminal Justice and Neuroscience background helps me better understand how students learn and relate to them on a personal level.
