About Parmis
Hello everyone! If you’re here, you’re probably looking to learn a bit more about me and my academic background. I’m currently an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology, where I’ve built strong skills in mathematics, analytical reasoning, and writing through rigorous coursework. My academic journey has required persistence, adaptability, and disciplined study methods, and those experiences strongly shape how I approach both learning and teaching. Over the years, I’ve learned that academic success comes from consistency, effective strategies, and confidence built over time. Balancing challenging science courses with leadership roles in cultural and community-based organizations, along with experiences focused on communication and public service, has strengthened my time-management skills, resilience, and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. I bring a strong communication background to my tutoring through four years of Speech and Debate, where I also served as a chair. In that role, I helped mentor and teach students how to write and refine original prose and poetry, structure arguments, and develop confident public speaking skills. I also interned with the Mayor’s Office, which strengthened my professionalism and ability to communicate clearly in formal settings. In addition, I began tutoring through peer tutoring in high school, where I supported students in subjects such as geometry and algebra, helping them build both understanding and confidence. Outside the classroom, I’ve been involved in healthcare and education-focused experiences, including a neuroscience internship with ThinkNeuro, where I worked on health education and communication initiatives. As a tutor, I work with students in elementary math, algebra, and writing up through the high school level. I pride myself on being patient, empathetic, and well-prepared, and I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs and learning style. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but also to help them feel confident in their abilities and equipped with study strategies they can rely on long-term.

My tutoring approach focuses on building strong foundations, confidence, and clear understanding through patience and empathy. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and learning style, using step-by-step explanations, guided practice, and supportive feedback. A typical lesson includes reviewing prior material, reinforcing key concepts, practicing together, and allowing the student to work independently. What sets me apart is my calm, understanding approach and emphasis on learning the “why,” not just memorization. I tutor elementary math, algebra, and writing at all levels up through high school.
