Hi, I’m Jules Day, but most students know me as Mr. Day! I’m an experienced AP Precalculus teacher and math tutor with six years of tutoring experience. Math can be challenging, but I believe that with the right support, any student can succeed—and that’s exactly what I’m here to provide. As a dedicated educator, I specialize in breaking down complex concepts and tailoring my explanations to fit each student’s unique learning style. Whether a student needs help building foundational skills, preparing for an exam, or pushing themselves to the next level, I create a structured yet flexible approach that meets their individual needs. Beyond tutoring, I lead my school’s math department, where I train and mentor other teachers to enhance their instruction. This experience allows me to bring the most effective teaching strategies into my tutoring sessions, ensuring students gain not just the skills to solve problems but also the confidence to tackle any math challenge. With six years of tutoring experience and my current role as an AP Precalculus teacher, I have developed a highly adaptable and student-centered approach to instruction. I specialize in breaking down complex mathematical concepts based on each student's unique learning style, ensuring they gain both confidence and a deep understanding of the material. My teaching philosophy revolves around clarity, adaptability, and engagement. I assess my students’ strengths and areas for growth, then tailor my explanations to match their learning preferences—whether that’s through visual aids, step-by-step breakdowns, real-world applications, or interactive problem-solving. My goal is to help students see the "why" behind the math, not just the "how." I also incorporate active learning strategies, encouraging students to ask questions, make connections, and explain their reasoning. This helps them develop critical thinking skills that extend beyond memorization and test-taking. Typical Lesson Plan: - Warm-up & Diagnostic Check – A quick review of previous material and discussion of any challenges. - Concept Introduction – Introducing the new topic using an approach tailored to the student's learning style. - Guided Practice – Working through problems together while identifying and addressing misconceptions. - Independent Practice & Application – Encouraging students to solve problems on their own with my guidance as needed. - Review & Strategy Discussion – Summarizing key takeaways, identifying areas to focus on, and discussing strategies for improvement.
