Firstly, I would prefer to understand what the situation demands as each set of students are different.
Secondly, I would encourage mapping- learning wherein I help students connect the previously taught topic with the newer ones irrespective of whether they relate or not. This technique turns out to be effective enough as the concepts are recalled often.
